As a self-professed coffee addict, I’ve decided to put together a short list of coffee houses around the Dallas area that have helped me out of a Starbucks slump. If you are also getting tired of the same old coffee routine, I hope one of these shops can give you some inspiration.
1. Tom N Toms - 2625 Old Denton Rd #406, Carrollton, TX 75007
Located in the heart of Carrollton, this coffee shop is not the typical Java house. The high ceilings, second story, and spacious interior make it perfect for studying and intimate coffee dates. The hours range from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm during the week, giving you plenty of time to finish late night work in a great environment. This place is great for grabbing a coffee and nestling in a corner for hours while completing whatever task is at hand.
2. Dunn Bros. Coffee - 725 Belt Line Road, Addison, TX 75001
This coffee shop is always busy, and for good reason. Not only is their coffee good, but their food is delicious as well. The cozy interior and calming ambiance will entice you to stay and keep you coming back. Though I wouldn’t recommend Dunn Bros. Coffee as a place to work (unless you have noise canceling headphones), coffee dates and brunch are their specialties.
3. 84 Point Craft Coffee - 4131 Midway Rd, Addison, TX 75001
If you’re ever looking for a java house that has it all, look no further than 84 Point Craft Coffee. Delicious teas, coffee, food, and a setting that works for homework and friends - you won’t be disappointed. Though it is just one story, they have plenty of space both indoors and outdoors. This coffee house even hosts fun events every once in a while, like goat yoga.
4. White Rock Coffee - 10105 E. Northwest Hwy., Dallas, TX 75238
The White Rock Coffee shop won’t let you down with its cozy vibe and friendly baristas. Only a few minutes away from White Rock Lake, this place is great for grabbing a cup of joe after a nice walk around the park. If you visit on a Thursday, there is an open mic event every week from 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
5. The Merchant - 924 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75206
Tucked away in Lower Greenville, this hot spot is perfect for grabbing coffee with a friend. The coffee shop doubles as a gift shop and contains many interesting books and trinkets that will keep you entertained while you wait for your beverage. Though there aren’t many seating options, the coffee shop is dog-friendly, so you don’t have to leave your pup at home. As the barista told me, “dogs can bring any human they want”.
