Technology for 1Ls: Other Helpful Tips

1L introduction to the technology at UNT Dallas College of Law

Intro

This page details useful technology tips which do not fit into the other sections.

LinkedIn Learning

LinkedIn Learning (Formerly Lynda.com) is a website which contains video courses for many different subjects, which you have free access to through the College of Law. You can learn about many different things which may be useful, such as technology tips or professional development courses. The following is a guide to access the site. However, please note that Lynda is in the process of migrating to LinkedIn Learning, so the instructions are subject to change and may not be correct.

To log in to LinkedIn Learning (formerly Lynda.com):

  1. Click on this Link: https://linkedinlearning.untsystem.edu
  2. Enter your UNT Dallas email address
  3. Log in with your EUID and password
  4. If you have not previously accessed your account, you will be walked through a quick setup process. If you had a Lynda.com account, you may need to select which account you would like to use (Lynda.com or LinkedIn).
  5. You should then be able to browse or search all of the courses and videos.

You will find a link for LinkedIn Learning at the bottom of the law school webpage, too.  Because we use Single sign-on, you cannot go directly to the website. You must go through our proprietary link

FAQ

1. Who do I go to for certain issues?

For issues dealing with Canvas, Examplify, clickers, and certain other software, you may go to LET. For issues dealing with installation issues, email, printing, or Office, you may go to IT. However, IT is not a computer repair shop, so if you have computer issues unrelated to the College of Law, they may not be able to help you.

2. What happens if I forget my password?

You may go https://ams.unt.edu/ in order to reset your password. However, this will reset it across different accounts such as Webmail and MyLaw, so you may have to log in again on all your devices to use these services on them.

3. What do I do if my Clicker is lost or broken?

There are two options in order to get a new clicker. The first option is to receive a new clicker from Jennifer Wondracek or Michael Pearson. There is a pool of leftover clickers which have been returned by graduating students, and are given out on a first come, first serve basis. Once this pool has run out, the other option is to purchase another clicker. These can be purchased from various retailers, such as Amazon, or by visiting iclicker.com. Be sure to choose the iClicker + model, since the school only uses that model. Please note that clickers are registered to specific students, so if your clicker is lost or broken, you may not borrow another student's, since it will be registered to that student and it may affect yours or their performance in a class if you record attendance or answer a question with another student's clicker.

4. How do I change my name in Canvas?

You must go through the Registrar's office to change your name.

5. Am I able to complete my Technology requirement as a 1L?

No, you will not be able to complete your technology requirement during your 1L year. There are two ways to complete this requirement. The first is to complete the Law Practice Technology course, which is not available during your 1L year. The second method is to complete the Procertas training module. Access to this assessment module is not available until the completion of your 1L year.
